During Maths Week we enjoyed many different Maths tasks and challenges. We also loved going to the Maths Problem Solving Wall and tackling the problems. A big thank you to Ms. Higgins and all the 6th Class girls for inviting us to their Maths Fair. We had lots of Maths Fun!
On the last day of school before our Halloween mid-term break, we had a Halloween party and dressed up. Some costumes were really scary, some were funny and some were nice . We had a big party and ate lots of sweets.
During the week, we did some art, pumpkin carving, sang Halloween songs and dressed up.
On Tuesday we did pumpkin carving with Ms. Buckley and some parents came in to help too. It was good fun. When we were finished pumpkin carving we did the Monster Mash.
We also did Halloween art. It was good fun too! We drew a Haunted House and Day of the Dead Skeletons.
It was a good week!!

Before Halloween, we were learning about 'Lines and Angles' in Room 6. We can now all identify and describe horizontal lines, vertical lines, perpendicular lines, straight lines, a right angle, an obtuse angle (greater than a right angle) and an acute angle (less than a right angle). We enjoyed many line and angle hunts and had great fun making human lines and angles in the yard.
Have a look at the pictures and see if you can recognise the angle we were making
Before Halloween we did an egg shell experiment. Ms. Marron was teaching us about our teeth and the next day after learning about our teeth, we did an egg shell experiment to see how certain liquids affect our teeth. We made predictions about what we think will happen to the egg shells.
There were five eggs and they went into a lunch box. Each lunch box had a different liquid. There was water, coke, milk, coffee and ribena. A week later we had a look at the eggs. The water and milk stayed the same. The coke and coffee ones had dark brown stains. The worst one was the ribena. The egg shell was coming off and it was disgusting. We then wrote the results down on a piece of paper.
Everyone loved the egg shell experiment.

A few days after we came back to school, our class wrote letters to our family and we posted them.
First we looked at a letter to see how to write a letter. Next we wrote a first draft of a letter. Then we wrote the letter.
After a few days, we walked to a postbox to send our letters. Over the next few days our families got the letters and they really liked them.
It was really fun!

A very warm welcome to our third and fourth class. I would like to especially welcome our new third class girls to our school. We are all looking forward to an enjoyable and happy year ahead. We will keep you up to date on all our learning and activities here on this blog so make sure to keep in touch!
Take a look at our photos from our very first day in Room 6.
On Wednesday, May 9th we visited Clara Bog Visitor's Centre. Our guide was called Alison and she taught us a lot about the raised bog in Clara. We watched a film about the bog and then we had a quiz on what we had learned. We went into the museum where we saw lots of interesting plants and animals. We even got to see froglets. Alison brought us in to her office and she showed us the webcam where we could watch a mother blue tit incubating her eggs. We got on the bus and went to Clara bog. We saw bog cotton, bog rosemary, sphagnum moss and bog myrtle. We heard the sky lark singing. Alison caught a newt for us to look at. We walked along the boardwalk and were very careful not to step on the bog because it takes 7 years for the bog to recover from a footprint. We had a lovely day.
Ms. Gaffey organised a spring Art activity for us. We invited parents to come in and help. We painted glass jars and pasted spring flowers on them. They look really well and we are proud of our work. Thank you Ms. Gaffey. Shauna's Granny Kay came in to help. Thank you Kay.
