While still having to have all our gatherings outside, crisp days in the park become the ideal place to make our Christmas wreaths. Under the guidance of Barbara I think we are all taking home quite a lovely wreath. Happy Christmas !! Great chance to get out walking on the canal. Barbara from Heritage in School guided us on some lovely walks and was a fund of information on the flora and fauna. Sadly this March Covid 19 develops in the country. It is leading to complete shut down of schools and the start of remote learning. HSCL will continue to stay in touch with families and all those in need. We will make contact with our incoming 3rd Class from St Josephs and link with our outgoing 6th Class

The venue was the Parents Room St Josephs and it was all hands on for these few weeks. Some great tips and some great cooking !! What a challenge !! We all tried really hard to attend school every day for the month of November and we did really well. Ms Marron's class managed to come out with the highest percentage of attendance for the month. We treated them to a festive trip to the Library and then for some yummy Hot Chocolate in the Square Cafe !! Well done to them !! Well done all !! HSCL Sept 2018Hi my name is Margaret Buckley and I am the Home School Community Liaison Coordinator here in St. Philomena's N.S. I work between St. Philomena's G.N.S. and Scoil Bhride B.N.S. As the HSCL coordinator, my role includes the following:
Attendance It is important that your child attends school everyday. However, we do realise that there are sometimes very valid reasons why your child misses school, such as illness or some other important reason. Please be aware that if your child misses over 20 days in school, the school is obliged to pass this information on toTusla (Child and Family Agency). AND...... If your child is absent for reasons other than illness and the school is concerned, an educational welfare officer may be in contact with you. We would also like you to be aware that when the girls are late in the mornings, they sign the ‘late book’ and the number of minutes for which they are late is uploaded to their profile on the office system. When they have to leave school early, this is also recorded on the system in school. The minutes are then calculated for each pupil at the end of each term. These minutes add up very quickly if they are late or leave early on a regular basis and this information is used for attendance purposes also. We are so grateful for your ongoing support in all we do in St. Philomena’s. My days here in St. Philomena’s are Monday 9.20 – 12.05, all day Tuesday and all day Thursday. Please keep an eye on notes going home in school bags with information of upcoming classes for parents and please feel free to call in and say HELLO ! |
