St. Philomena's will be closed on Thursday, February 23rd and Friday, February 24th for our mid-term break.
Woolly Hat Walk
Our woolly hat walk was a great success. We were delighted to welcome Mieke who accompanied us on our walk. The weather was great and we all enjoyed walking along the banks of the canal. We are encouraging everyone to remember to Trot on Thursday where you can walk, cycle, park and stride or scoot to school.
Credit Union Quiz
The very best of luck to our two quiz teams who are taking part in the Credit Union Quiz in the Tullamore Court Hotel on Friday 3rd of February: Alexandria, Ashanti, Lillian, Phoebe and Sarah are on the Junior Team and Aisling, Amy, Ellie, Emily, Sharona and Tiffany are on the Senior Team. They have been practising so hard over the past few weeks. Many thanks to Mr. Maher for giving so freely of his time to help them with their preparations.

Message from the Principal
I feel humbled and honoured to write this message as the newly appointed principal of St. Philomena’s N.S.
I have been a member of the St. Phil’s staff for the past 14 years and I can honestly say that I have loved every day working in the school. As a Clara woman starting out in a Tullamore school in September 2008, I didn’t quite know how I would be received but I knew instantly that I had landed somewhere very special.
The ethos of St. Philomena’s is grounded in respect, tolerance, openness and honesty and as a staff, we work hard at building relationships with each other, with the pupils and their families.
My aim as principal is to ensure that every child feels valued coming in the school gates in the morning and that more than anything else, every child wants to come to school with us. In our school, Every Child Counts or No Child Counts and I will make it my main aim to foster a commitment to equality of opportunity for every pupil, every day. I will strive for a healthy, positive learning and working environment for the staff and our pupils and to provide a space where well-being will blossom naturally.
guardian(s), you are the primary educators of your child/ren, so please don’t be afraid to come in and talk to us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child/ren. Together, we can do so much more!
