We had a very busy, active workshop with Eddie (www.eddieoneill.ie) today. We made lots of rhythms on East African drums and a selection of percussion instruments- some quiet and relaxing rhythms and a lot of very loud, energetic ones ! Eddie has been coming to our school for many years and we always enjoy his workshops. Thanks Eddie ! Here are some photos: ( video to follow hopefully...) A Mandala is a circular pattern that is used for prayer and meditation in Hinduism and Buddhism. It can represent the Circle of Life. Mandalas are sometimes made with flower petals or with sand. We used paint to create our interpretation of mandalas. Here are the photos (click on the thumbnails) : Congratulations to 5th class ( and their parents) on being super school attenders this year. We won the Attendance Trophy on numerous occasions!

(Teacher was a bit neglectful of her photography duties !! Sorry about that !!) Today we enjoyed seeing a magic show performed by Evan. Lots of girls got to assist him with some of the tricks. We also met his "wild animal" called Rocky. Here are the photos: Today we had a dance lesson with Tricia. We learned two dances. Here are the photos: ( click on the thumbnails) On the 14th of June we went on our school tour. First we went on a Viking boat. Then we went to Clonmacnoise . Then we went to Birr Gardens. We all had a great day:) !!! (by Ali, Leah D.,Tasha and Rachael) Firstly we travelled on the bus to Athlone. We got on board the boat and we put on our coats because it was chilly. We got on and we saw some swans and cygnets. We saw bay sports and when we got a picture with Viking George and left the boat we ate our lunch. The trip was loads of fun.[by Sophie, Ashanti, Lillian and Alex] When we arrived at Clonmacnoise we went to the Museum and saw the original high crosses. After that we saw a short film about Saint Ciaran and Clonmacnoise. Then we went outside and got a guided tour. We learned a lot about the round towers and the whispering arch. We had a lot of fun at Clonmacnoise! (by Ellen, Emilie, Jodie, Rihanna and Aisling ). When we arrived at Birr Gardens we got a map and we went outside to look for red squirrels. We did not find any but we found the Great Telescope and we filled in our answers to the questions on the back of our sheet. Next we went into the spiral maze. Then we pretended we were Countesses and walked through the hornbeam archways in the formal gardens. After that we went to the playground. We played in the treehouse, on the bouncy pillow and we went to the shop. We had a great time. (Olivia ,Shauna, Sarah ,Grace ,Aoife, Mija and Abigail.) Here are the photos: Thanks for reading the 5th class Blog.
