Maybe some of us will take a little trip this Summer but I know that many of us may not. We can still imagine and dream about trips that we would love to have with our families some day soon. For this week, I have two projects based around the theme of HOLIDAYS! CAMPING TRIP: The first one is about taking a camping trip. I have a poem for you to read and enjoy about camping and feeling close to nature. I also have some really great art collages to inspire you to make your own nature collage. THEME PARK ADVENTURE TRIP: The second one is about designing a theme park. So think of your dream theme park and make up the rides and activities you could do there.
EXAMPLE: Chocoland, the main attraction is the Frothy Cocoa Ferris Wheel, the rollercoaster is the Caramel Twist, the water ride is called the Chocolate Milk Waterfall...and so on. You can create a map to show where the different amusement rides and restaurants are. (I will attach some examples of the colourful maps you can make for the visitors to your theme park or you can look online at Disneyland, Universal Studios, Thorpe park, Legoland or any other theme park for ideas.) Other themes might be: fruit, Christmas, books, the desert, ice-cream, the farm, etc. So you pick a theme and think of all the different things you could have there around the theme...like I did for chocolate. Please send me any pictures, I would really love to see them! Create these finger puppets using egg cartons, paint, wool and googly eyes. You could give them names and make a drama script about an adventure they have together too!
Write a short 'monologue' where you imagine you are having a dream that you are sitting on a bubble high above the town. What are you thinking? Feeling? Predicting?
A monologue is where one character in a drama speaks their thoughts aloud. Remember to write in the first person: 'I'. To make your own music shaker:
You will need an empty bottle, some paper napkins, PVA glue and some dried food (like long-grain rice/split lentils) 1) Glue the napkin to a clean bottle. (as far as the lid) 2) Add a few spoons of the dried food. 3) Add the lid and glue more of the napkin over and around the lid. 4) Leave to dry overnight. 5) Shake and make some music! Hi Everyone!
This activity produces a nice piece of abstract art through a scientific reaction ans some creativity. It is called: 'Science Surprise Drip Art' (Ask your parents for help with this because it can be messy) You will need: different food colouring, a bun or muffin tray, baking soda, white vinegar and some paper. 1) Add a few drops of food colouring to each part of your muffin tray. 2) Fill each with baking soda. 3) Add some white vinegar to each one and see how the colour 'surprises' you from underneath. (Learn more about acids and bases and let me know what you find out through your research) 4) Drop it on a page and flick it or try let it drip and run. 5) See what abstract and colourful patterns you can make. CLEAN UP CAREFULLY AFTERWARDS.... enjoy :-) (You don't need the little pipettes, a spoon/ladle will work just fine!) Hi everyone, I am going to attach some creative activities for you all and you might like to try some of them this week. I would LOVE to see how you get on. Please email me to let me know or send me a picture. 1) 'Tinfoil Sea Drawings': you will need permanent markers and some tinfoil wrapped around card. (Slides 1 & 2) 2) 'Ocean Diorama': you will need to use a cardboard box/cereal box and any other materials you have around the house for your design. (Slides 3 & 4) 3) 'Nature Mermaid': you will need paper, scissors and a camera. Cut out the tail and find different patterns or flowers etc to hold your card over and take a photo! (Slides 5, 6 & 7) Positive Affirmation Friday! Can you choose your favourite affirmation and make a poster from it? I have attached an example. So get creative, use bubble writing, or different colours or write it in your normal handwriting and decorate with things that make you feel happy (rainbows, sun, dogs, flowers, football...whatever you like!)
Some affirmation ideas: I BELIEVE IN ME I AM A GOOD FRIEND I CHOOSE POSITIVITY Hi everyone! I am attaching some English and Maths today. The English work revises some of the spelling patterns and word endings we were working on last term: words that end in 'or' or 'ur'. I also have another page of English that revises alphabetical order and word definitions.
The Maths work shows how we can use partitioning when multiplying with a two digit number. There are also some mental maths questions that you could try (or maybe try some of them). Try your best...revising what you have learned before is really important! Have a great day today. :-) |
