Compound words are where two words come together to make a new word with new meaning. There are lots of compound words we use all the time:
class + room = classroom sun + flower = sunflower beach + ball = beachball I will attach a few below for you to match. Can you come up with some of your own? Learning about and visualising (mental picture) these words can really help with your writing, vocabulary and spelling. For parents: These two attachments are useful for parents to use when asking questions to their daughter about anything they are reading. There are two: one for fiction texts like novels and short stories and one for non-fiction texts like reports and factual accounts. The sheets can also be used for children as prompts to write a book report.
Good morning! I am attaching a printable booklet for you to fill in that will make a time capsule. It could be really interesting to look back on in the years to come. If you don't have printer, don't worry. You can open the document and copy some of the headings to your own paper, the same idea :-)
I would like you to do some shopping today...online! You will need to visit the Argos website (www.argos.ie) and I would like you to find the price for the following items. They should all be there because I just double checked them this morning.
- Marvel Spiderman 14 inch Kid's Bike -Bosch Village 2 slice Toaster Black -Disney Princess Toddler Doll- Rapunzel -Island Drinks Cup With Straw -Argos Home Fox Bean Bag Chair -Argos Home Wild Bird Feeding Station Q1) What is the total cost of the items? Q2) What change would I have from 300 euro? Q3)What is the difference in price between the Spiderman bike and Rapunzel doll? Q4) How much would three bean bags cost? Q5) If I have 170 euro, how much more will I need for a 4th bean bag? Maybe some of your parents are making shopping lists before they go to the supermarket. Why not help them? You can estimate the cost of the items and see how much you think it might be. If you have a receipt from the last time, you can find the items and get the exact price. Email me to let me know you found this Maths activity. :-) Good morning everyone! Today I am giving you all the information you need to make homemade lava lamps of 'ooze tubes' or whatever you would like to call them. :-) They are fun to make and are also a nice and relaxing thing to watch and to concentrate on. You will need:

[email protected] Hi girls, we are building on work from yesterday. Email me with any drafts or completed work. Have a great bank holiday weekend! Notes for Parents: The monster poetry is helpful for: adjectives and other parts of speech, identifying rhyming patterns, expanding vocabulary, creativity in writing, practicing thesaurus usage and also for comprehension (comprehension strategies: inference, scanning, skimming)
Morning girls, I am attaching a unit of work below that has a few activities that helps you write your own poem about a monster. It can be a funny and friendly monster or something a little more gruesome and gross. It will help greatly if you have been working on our adjectives and sentence stretchers the last few weeks. The activity sheets talk about alliteration. Alliteration is when we use some words together that start with the same letter. So if you were thinking about the monster's head and you wanted to use alliteration; you would think of 'H' words...' his huge, hideous, head'. Or if you get really imaginative and decide on something crazy like a food monster for example, your monster could have 'chocolate chips, cheese and cherries' all over them. You are using the sound 'CH' here for your alliteration. If you would like to keep this activity a little more simple, just look at the page with the picture of the monster and choose a word to describe each noun on the page and draw a picture or print and colour the one provided. This might be a good idea for the 3rd class literacy groups. I think the 4th class group could have a go at trying out the alliteration. For any older class groups I think you could try to use the online thesaurus to extend your descriptive words to include new vocabulary. Have fun and send me your work or any questions.
Hi everyone! There is a worksheet attached below with questions that gets you to think about someone you admire, why you admire them and how they achieved their goals.. I have chosen Adi Roche and have filled out my own sheet as an example. This is suitable for my 5th and 6th class group and you can even choose someone we have started a project on. 3rd and 4th class girls can give it a go too of course. Email me if you need any help or have any questions. :-)
Girls I am just trying out 'Padlet' to see if we can add to our online learning together. I will post a link to the padlet I created. I have the oral language activity from the post below on there. See if you can engage, type, add a comment or voice note or video. We can learn about using it together!
