Activity: 3d maths As revision of 3d shapes make your name out of household items. I wrote my name using pieces of pasta. Look at the picture I inserted below. Please send on your creations. Art: Mindful Ice- Cream Draw and colour a mindful ice cream cone, showing lots attention to detail. Take your time and perhaps listen to some mindful music. I also added a picture of a mindful ice-cream that I drew. Id love to see your creations so please email them on! Music Make your own percussion instrument using materials in your home. History- Transport in the Past In History, we are learning about Transport in the past. We are focusing specifically on “The Titanic”. Before aeroplanes, people would travel by ship. We are focusing on the building of the Titanic. KWL- do a KWL chart. Fill them in before reading the information provided. After you have read the powerpoints then fill in the “What I learned” part of the chart. Powerpoint- Read the PowerPoint about Harland and Wolf. Brainstorm- what changes has been made to ships to make them more safe for passengers. Diary- write a diary entry as a passenger on the Titanic. You can be from any class. This is revision of various topics that we have covered throughout the year. There are 5 pages in this topic, I would like you to work through a page each day. Set a timer and set 40 minutes at most at each page. 10 minutes of times tables should also be done as part of your maths revision. Your times tables are so important for maths in 5th class. Number sentences are simply sentences using numbers. These should be ok, I wrote a list of activities that you can work through below. Eg. I had 5 apples and then I bought six apples so I had 11 apples altogether. This can be written as 5+6=11 Word problems- C p176 Please work through these in your copy. Pyramid Poem The chosen topic is described using one adjective in the first line, then two adjectives in the second line and so on. Maths: Time In my plans we are covering time this week. Time can be a difficult concept to grasp so don’t be disheartened if you find it tricky. Wear a watch if you have one, it will be really helpful! Time hunt: walk around your house and try to find all the places you see times. Watches, clock on the wall, TV guide, timetable, phone, etc. see how many you can find, now you can see how important time is. Do as much of A as you can using the train timetables. Science: Electricity Brainstorm: What is electricity? What sorts of things use electricity? How does it make things work? How does electricity get to where it is needed? Please read the information sheets added and add any new facts to your brainstorm. Brainstorm: How can electricity be dangerous? What can we do to be safe around electricity? Brainstorm first and then read the PowerPoint slides I added below. Static electricity experiments: I had some static electricity experiments planned for us in school but now that we are not in school, I do not expect you to do them as items are required such as balloons, aluminum cans, etc. But feel free to carry out some static electricity experiments at home or watch some online! Maths: 3d shapes We are learning about 3d shapes this week, I find this is a lovely topic and you should be able to do lots of these activities independently. Remember what I always say, maths is very important as its all around. I want you to use your “maths eyes” and find lots of 3d shapes around you this week.
Definitions: Prism: a 3D shape that 2 opposite identical faces. All other faces are rectangles. It can be cut to give slices that are the same shape and area. Pyramid: a 3d shape with a base that can be any shape and all the other faces are triangles.

Science: Environmental awareness This week I want us to think about the importance of caring for our planet and how it is everyone’s responsibility to look after it. Brainstorm- How the actions of people may impact upon environments. (e.g. felling trees, removing hedgerows, draining marshes, constructing buildings, roads and bridges) Please write this list in your copy. List- Rule your copy down the middle to create 2 columns. On one side write the heading “renewable resources” and “non-renewable resources”. Definitions:
Poster: Choose an environmental problem that we have in our community.(e.g. litter in area; an incident of pollution; new roads; buildings; need to protect a habitat and its flora and fauna) Poster: Design a poster making suggestions of possible actions we can do as a person/community/school to help solve this problem!
