DEAR: Do 15 minutes of silent reading a day Spellwell: Do the next week's activities and practice a box of spellings each night. Ask someone to test you on Friday if they can, but don't worry if that's not possible. *If you only learn 10 spellings a week, choose the spellings you use the most in your writing. Read at Home: do 1 a day for the 4 days we would be in school this week. This book should be finished by the end of the week. Gaeilge: Conas a bhí an aimsir ar do laethanta saoire? P133 Give these a go, you know lots of vocab to describe weather, so fill in the blanks. Here’s some examples:

Óg- Young Níos óige- younger As you can see when something is “more” it also changes the spelling of the adjective (describing word) All the adjectives that you will need for the fill in the blanks are at the top of the page, these will help you a lot. Déan cur síos ar na séasúir (Describe the seasons) p135 Match the sentences with the season

Try to fill out as many as you know but if you’re stuck go to page 180 of your book and you’ll find what you’re looking for. Maths: 3d shapes We are learning about 3d shapes this week, I find this is a lovely topic and you should be able to do lots of these activities independently. Remember what I always say, maths is very important as its all around. I want you to use your “maths eyes” and find lots of 3d shapes around you this week.
Definitions: Prism: a 3D shape that 2 opposite identical faces. All other faces are rectangles. It can be cut to give slices that are the same shape and area. Pyramid: a 3d shape with a base that can be any shape and all the other faces are triangles.

Science: Environmental awareness This week I want us to think about the importance of caring for our planet and how it is everyone’s responsibility to look after it. Brainstorm- How the actions of people may impact upon environments. (e.g. felling trees, removing hedgerows, draining marshes, constructing buildings, roads and bridges) Please write this list in your copy. List- Rule your copy down the middle to create 2 columns. On one side write the heading “renewable resources” and “non-renewable resources”. Definitions:
Poster: Choose an environmental problem that we have in our community.(e.g. litter in area; an incident of pollution; new roads; buildings; need to protect a habitat and its flora and fauna) Poster: Design a poster making suggestions of possible actions we can do as a person/community/school to help solve this problem!
