Hello Girls,
I hope you are all well and enjoying the glorious sunshine! Please get plenty of fresh air and exercise and lots of reading in the garden of course. Again, don't feel any pressure to get all the work done, just get as much as you can done. The most important thing now is that you stay safe and happy! If you need me you can contact me on my work email: [email protected]. Also for any children who go to Ms. Heaslip’s room, you can have a look at her blog for some activities. Find the ones that are linked to the work that you usually do with her. Next Monday is a bank holiday, so I won't be uploading work for you until Monday night so enjoy your 3 day weekend! English: This week we are focusing on a poem. The poem is called Oh, How I’d Like to Travel by Jodi Right Please read the poem below and over the week do the following activities based on the poem.
Oh, How I’d Like to Travel- Jodi Right I lie awake each night Staring at the ceiling Following each crack Finding new routes Oh, how I’d like to travel Somewhere new, Somewhere old, Somewhere where the people; Sing merrily Dance happily Oh, how I’d like to travel On a plane, On a boat, On something that will get me there; Fast, like a soaring bird Safely, like a locked room Oh, how I’d like to travel To see the sunset of a new horizon To smell the sweet smells of newness Like the delicious croissants; Of France Like the finest chocolates Of Belgium Like the mouth watering tomatoes Of Spain To taste each one would full A delicacy unknown to my taste buds. Oh, how I’d like to travel Could be anywhere It doesn’t have to be far Because like every crack It can be long route or, It can be short route Gaeilge: You will need to use your book to do these activities so register on folensonline.ie if you haven’t already done so. Irish will be tricky without the help of your teacher so just give it your best shot please, you can do it! We are still on the topic of weather
Chuaigh mé- I went Ní dheachaigh mé- I didn’t go Maths: Problem solving. Maths is all around us, this week I want you to use your maths eyes and try to spot maths we use all the time in everyday life, time, measuring, simple addition, subtraction, etc. I know that maths this week must be might be tricky for you without the help of Mrs. Heaslip and I but give it your best try and do as much as you can. If someone at home can help you that’s super but don’t put pressure on anyone at home to help you if they are busy. Try to keep revising your times tables too!
3. Travel: p164 A and B. Again, drawing pictures will help you. A round trip means to your destination and back home. (Hint! There will be lots of division(sharing equally) problems 4. Area- p164 C. Perimeter- the outside of a shape. 5. Barbecue fractions: p164. As we had lots of sunny weather some of you may have had a barbecue, like I said maths is found everywhere! These problems use fractions, draw out the fractions when working them out. History: story We are discussing the stories from lives of people in the past. As you are probably aware you are now living through a significant historical event which I am sure you will tell people about in the future. It is important that we know about our family’s history also and the stories they can tell us. If you’re parents grew up in another country and not Ireland it is very interesting to hear about their childhood and culture. Please ask an adult (parent, grandparent, Aunt, uncle) to tell you about their favourite or most important childhood memory. Make sure you ask them lots of questions throughout. Please do the following activities based on the story
Of course, I'd love to see you're work so make sure to email me! Stay Safe, Be Happy, Ms. Lee
