Hi girls, I hope you are all keeping well, and enjoying the beautiful weather. This week we are going to focus on the theme of Under the Sea. Keep up the wonderful work, and I will hopefully see you all very soon! I have attached a piece of writing on Jacques Cousteau below. Before you read it I would like you to do some Brainstorming!
Questions: 1. When and where was Jacques Cousteau born? 2. Why was he expelled from school? 3. What school did Jacques attend after boarding school? 4. What device did he help to invent? 5. What was Jacques Cousteau's cause of death? Digging Deep: Discuss. 1. What would you have to be good at to be a film-maker? 2. How did Jacques regain his strength after his accident? 3. What inspired him to invent the first scuba diving device? 4. Why did he call the device the 'aqua-lung'? 5. If you could ask Jacques Cousteau one question, what would it be? Character Profile: Extract information from the text to complete this character profile of Jacques Cousteau.
Making Slogans: Slogans are often short and snappy. Can you think of some slogans for the Cousteau Society for the Protection of Ocean Life? Make up a slogan, and design a poster to go with it. Remember to have fun! Poetry: I have also attached a poem from Ms. Heaslip's page, which she very kindly let me use. Please read down through the poem, and answer the questions as well. When you are finished, try and make up your own poem based on the sea. Remember to decorate it. All of the above work can be done into your English copy.
