We hope you like our big paper snowflakes that we made. We used math skills like naming and making squares (2D shapes), following instructions, noticing symmetry, cutting and folding to construct them (3D shapes).
(Thanks Ms. Tracey for teaching us this great craft. We enjoyed doing it.) We were learning about wild animals in Ireland. Different people did projects on foxes, deers, bats, rabbits and hedgehogs. We all did the projects in groups of 2. Here are some pictures of our projects.
(This report was written by Keeley and Anna.) On Wednesday last week students from Tullamore College came to our school for Science Week. They gave us S.T.E.M. challenges to do. S.T.E.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, so the challenges were pretty tricky! (Lillian 5th class)........
You can read the rest of the report and see the photos on the 5th class Blog page. All the classes worked together in groups. We made our own personal timelines to tell the stories of our lives so far. We remembered important events in our lives and showed them on a timeline from the year of our birth to 2017. The timelines are on display in the corridor so everyone can look at them. This is how we displayed them: Thanks for reading our Blog.
Please see the report and photos about the Christmas Shoebox Collection on the Homepage. Thanks to all the girls in 3rd class who brought in a shoebox gift.
On Wednesday 25th October, 3rd and 5th class went on a Maths Trail together. It was really fun. We went outside and we were looking for answers to lots of Maths questions. We were counting the window sides and the stairs and the ceiling tiles. We had to add and subtract and multiply and round off numbers. We had fun with our 5th class partners. You can see our photos below. This report was written by Angel and Morgan ( 3rd class). Thank you for reading our Blog. We hope you enjoyed it !
On Wednesday, we went for a very nice walk by the canal. We collected horse chestnuts and beech nuts. When we came back to school, we planted some of the nuts in pots of soil and compost. We hope that by next Spring we will be able to see some of them starting to grow. It would be great to be able to grow our own horse chestnut tree or beech tree ! Here are some photos from our walk by the canal. Thank you for reading our blog. We hope you enjoyed it !
We have been settling in to our new class and new school. We have been very busy since we started in September. Now that it is Autumn, the leaves are turning gold and brown. We looked at their beautiful shapes and shapes. We did some art work to enjoy the Autumn colours. Here are a few of them: the top ones are sycamore and the bottom ones are oak. We hope you like them !
