Hi girls! We must try to speak to ourselves in an encouraging and gentle way. Many of you have created a positive affirmations board and it is on display in Room 3. Why not create one for home? You don't need corkboard and pins, you could use an old cereal box and ask someone to help you make some holes in it to tie some string/ribbon through it for hanging. Don't forget to add some of your favourite positive affirmations to it before you display it. I have attached a list for inspiration. Look at it and read them when you wake up, before you go to sleep or if you are feeling that you need to be cheered up or motivated. As with all activities, these are just SUGGESTIONS and there is no pressure on any student to complete any of them. If you can't, that is fine and you do not need to worry at all :-) Send me details of the affirmations you choose or even better, a photo of the finished piece! [email protected]
This is an excellent resource for practicing your basic facts and tables.

Read them, practice them, write them on coloured card and make a second copy of each to play SNAP with, create a wordsearch and hide the words in it, write them in different colours, write them outside with chalk, make a word wall in your house, find them in your reading books... try different ways to practice each day.

I have been lucky enough to capture a sign of spring on camera early this morning. This guy spent a long time racing and jumping about in the fields around my house. He even came right up on the patio. Do you know what animal it is? It's an Irish Hare! Would you like to learn more about him? Lets try to use as many of your skills across different subjects! Remember that all of the activities are optional. I'll post beside each one the groups it might be suitable for. It is up to you and your parents if you complete any, some or all. The most important thing for the moment is that you are helping your parents out at home and trying to get some fresh air everyday. Stay safe everyone and don't forget to email me at [email protected] with any questions or updates or pictures of your work. :-)
Theraputty is often used to help improve hand strength and dexterity. Using it in different ways will help to improve fine motor skills. Handwriting grip and technique is often something that is helped by engaging with theraputty activities. Many pupils often find using the putty calming and relaxing and a pleasant sensory experience too! The different colours usually mean different strengths/hardness. A medium one might be good to start with. This is usually orange/pink or green in colour but you can check with the supplier if you choose to purchase one. Here are some websites that are Irish based. https://www.sensationalkids.ie/product-category/sensory-resources/theraputty/ https://www.thinkingtoys.ie/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=5165&search=theraputty
This activity will help to build vocabulary (adjectives), descriptive oral skills, alphabetical order skills, dictionary and thesaurus work. Have fun and feel free to email me [email protected] to tell me about some of the interesting words that you discovered.
Some of you may remember that we discussed having an ‘Attitude of Gratitude’.
What are you grateful for today? Try to pay attention to some small things that you feel thankful for. Did you share a joke with a brother or sister? Was someone in your household able to help you with a task or chore? Did a flower start to bloom in your garden? What did the dry and fine weather allow you to do today? Sometimes we don't notice some of the little things that are going right for us. Your task is to really notice them and to record them. Make a poster showing some of the little things you are grateful for. You can draw and write a sentence about each one. Title your poster ‘Attitude of Gratitude’. If you can, take a picture and send it to me at [email protected]. Or you can keep it in a folder of work to share when we return to school. I can't wait to see it! |
